52 Short Weeks is a project at a site called The Peppermill, they are planning on getting one artist a week make a song for them during 2007. Each artist gets to pick a headline from the news of that week and then gets seven days to finish a song They'll rip a headline out of that week's news as the title to their 2-3 minute song and then have 7 days to complete it before they pass their creation on to the next artist, who will continue where they left off.
Once the whole year is done, all tracks are going to be put into a big continuous mix, so you could wait until the end of the year, but you'd be missing out on some good music while you wait.
Cool idea! I think I shall have to kick one or two songwriters I know to take a crack at getting signed on. (Hi Spooky!)
