    Conclusions:

Thinking is only good for endgame. Feeling works much better: (though when asked to explain why, things may get difficult)

Be confident, but not way too confident. (Merely overconfident is okay)

Night 1: Had no night choice. I assumed that my kill was in addition to the mafia group (a bit like a mafia assassin, hence the Puss in Boots thing later on)

Avatar was something I asked a girl for. Certainly beats "cat's eye nebula" or random cats eyes. It would have been very embarassing if I had done the latter. Nothing sucks like turning up at a party wearing a similar costume to someone else.

Day 1: Note that at this point I didn't know Peacock was mafia. So I attacked him for being suspicious, then realised that he [and maybe Shepherdess, but it would be wrong for me to claim that as I also suspected a bunch of other people] might just be mafia. So I just stopped. Dead giveaway in retrospect.

Found that there was a catwoman movie released in the us. Decided against it. I can't remember when the rest of the avatar selection goes, but:

another cartoon of cat from same series as banzai cat during peacock attack - shows cat swiping at bird and missing.

photo of cat with spots suggested by the devil (felt that SK wouldn't have done that)

After that I found a bunch of good stuff I didn't have time to use.

Night 2: I thought. I figured that I might just get away with killing Red. who at that time, seemed:

[1] Like La Paloma - mask style = La Paloma's avatar style, and "Greetinks Darlinks" was from F4M.

    [2] The most helpful.

[3] Possibly mafia as well - If he was La Paloma, he was obviously doing the "Pretend to be a girl to reduce chances of lynch" tactic. Well. How ironic.

Normally, with "feeling" method, killing the second most useful person always works.

That's when I learned there was a doc.

Day 2. meh. Tried to pin something on someone, screwed up, accepted that I screwed up (always a good idea. When in a hole, stop digging). Also, as above, stop thinking. I wanted to attack peacock, but he might be mafia, what to do what to do?

I think I had Puss in Boots avatar, getting idea from tv ad, or something.

Night 2: Got picked up, Shepherdess died.

I was very surprised to find that none of the kills were by the mafia.

Day 3: I could feel the bandwagon turning against Peacock, and decided to nip it in the bud. He was the gf, so I knew I could get away with it. My original intention was to claim naive cop, but that changed to regular cop to killer cop (Notice how I adapted it to Devil's suggestion - Role PM would have looked like:

Nobody will recognise you beneath this disguise, you're sure of it. Because if they did, they would recognise you from two years/hours ago, when your brother/sister/significant other/mayor (never did decide) was horribly murdered. But they left clues, and you tracked them here. Too bad they're in disguise.

You are a private investigator now, and each dance you look for the killers. [ which could mean any killer ]

You win when all anti-town elements are dead.

Okay, that was something I made up just now, but that was what I had in mind:

Next time: write it out. It helps.

... and then back to naive cop (Similar variant to my second game, trouble in the toybox. Jack Stone could track people, but when tracking us decepticons, he would lose sight of us, then catch up with us to see us recharge. )

Night 3: The Fool has a fake sword. That just seemed like a pathetic excuse for an SK, just in case, so I suggested we kill him. But that turned out okay, other pro-town people with suspicious weapons would have thought him confirmed.

Day 3: I wanted to lynch Butterfly (cos felt him SK, so would have won), but Devil pushed for Peacock lynch. I couldn't go against it without dying horribly.

I knew at this point he was the doc (hence the weird comment "I think I knoc whad you are or something like that" I wanted to use it in case I claimed regular doc. Which doesn't make sense for several reasons, but I was just stupid.

Night 4: Peacock's comment about friends didn't help. Devil was being my friend too much. I thought he might be a brilliant SK, but I felt he was the doc (no kill from SK, me obvious target, can't be butterfly...), who could stop my death in the endgame.

And if butterfly was SK (didn't really suspect the Buccaneer here or any time before, that was all lies), he was going to kill one of PEacock's attackers. And I figured he'd already attacked me once, and many docs can't protect the same person twice (turns out he protected me many many times)... I was a bit nervous at that point. Stop thinking.

    Kill Butterfly:
Pros: I felt he was going to kill the devil. I kill him, lynch Buccaneer next day, win.

Cons: I thought there was a chance he might just kill the Buccaneer, in which case the next day it would be Red, Devil, and me. Which would be bad.

    Kill Devil:

Pros: Regardless of who butterfly kills, as long as it isn't me, I have a chance next day. If he was the SK, I could still talk my way out of it, hopefully, but if I didn't kill him, he knows. And the last time I had a mafia, sk, town, town scenario was in Quantum. Mole had a one-time kill protection, so that didn't turn out well.

Cons: My biggest supporter. Felt he would probably help me.

Conclusion: I thought, I listened to my own insecurities, so I targeted devil. In retrospect going with how I felt and targeting the Butterfly would have upped my chances.

    Day 4:

I knew butterfly was it. All I needed to do was to make him think Buccaneer was it, which was hard. Oh well.

I then got even more sure. Why?

    Watertight case against Butterfly:

    I felt he was SK.
    SK couldn't be Red.
SK could be Buccaneer, but he was a gossip as well, and butterfly was more suspicious.
Then he didn't deny it. Buccaneer did. hehehehe.

    He HAD to be it.

But by the end of the day, I started to believe my own lies. Always a risk with any web of lies.

So I wasn't too confident about night kill, thought about it a little.

This was one of the best games I played in. It was lots of fun. I even stopped posting at scene ( there were some threads I wanted to post in, some large games I wante d to join, forget which...) just to hide my identity.

Plus it's a blind game that worked quite well.

Finally, my cop claim wasn't ballsy. Nothing to do with balls, losing marbles, or any other round objects (maybe unravelling a ball of yarn and wrapping it everywhere...) Where was I? Oh yes, being mafia isn't fun unless you come up with a totally wicked role claim. I couldn't have done it in a non-blind game, after fake-claiming The Sound of Music in a game on Mafiascum.

In summary, I rock, and I was lucky (bound to happen eventually), so go me and my second (I think) mafia win.

so the mafia didn't know each others identity?

The goons didn't know anyone, but were taking it in turns to attempt to find each other (or kill), the godfather knew them both but couldn't tell them during the night. What I really wanted to know was how the godfather would deal with knowing both goons on day 1... how he'd get them to hook up with each other and/or him. Or not!

Of course, as it turned out, The Shepherdess/Bsjezz got lucky and hit the Peacock/Wodan on night 1.

    In summary, I rock

Hi Colonic: In a game run by Carmine, with 9 people, how many killing groups would you expect there to be? Mono: 10

Heh, well, as one third of Red Death, I enjoyed the game, although I wasn't able to play as much as I liked, due to real life. Thanks Carmine!

Does anyone know how hard it is to carry on someone else's playing style? Especially when they've been roleplaying as the most irritating, high-pitched, hysterically annoying bint in the known universe? And you haven't been following the plot? And it gets harder when you are male, sensible, reasonable and drop-dead gorgeous.

You have to defend decisions you didn't make, explain your attitude and so on... So, if you noticed a different playing style at some point, forgive me. ;-)

Mysteek provided all the costumes and some help with name guesses, so she can take the podium, make the speeches and share the champagne with Eatin and I when Carmine sends it out.

I have to agree with HC there, it was difficult stepping into Red's shoes, espeically after he 'agreed' to change his posting style (master stroke there).
Which is why I pretty much skimmed over questions like 'but on day 2 you said THIS, why??
I have to say tho I was much more interested in playing after Carmine said she wouldn't be announcing the replacement, it was fun to see if i could get away with it, even with changing the avatar mid-day :p
And all credit for the avatars goes to Mysteek there were some great ones there!

I had enough trouble catching up on the game tho, without trying to work out who people were, which is why I didn't bother with the side games.

First of all, great setup Carmine!
I really liked the blind game - it highlighted for me just how much prejudice is attached to decisions when you look at the player rather than the posts.
Not knowing who was behind each mask meant that the focus was on what people said, rather thank who said it. Plus it eliminated 'emotional blackmail'-type posts (which I've been seeing a lot of lately, and which are unfair and a bit low, imho - even if you ARE playing a mafia character ;) )

Even so, I was convinced I was correct in some of my identity guesses - and was glad of the mask to hide my red face when some were revealed ;)

I'd definitely sign up for another blind game!

    Congrats and well played, Wacky!

Congrats too to Hi Colonic and Etain on stepping in when I went on hols.
I must admit to taking some evil delight in the thought of Hi Colonic posing as the harridan Red Death (Boo! to the 'Ok, I'll change my posting style' tactic - although it was a great ploy!)

SUCH fun, dahlinks! We MUST do it again, sometime! ;)

Seeing as folks seem keen for more blind mafia games in the future, perhaps we shouldn't change the masks' log-in passwords for now - so that a future moderator has 12 identities handy and ready-to-use? Would depend on Carmine or the rest of us being available to pass on the passwords, I guess.

Heh - apologies if either HC or Etain got fed up with me pestering them to explain Mysteek's actions. But the fact that you just seemed so happy to ignore my accusations and oblivious to my questions - it just kept triggering my scum-dar.

    ...lots of stuff...

which I applaud whole-heartedly! You were a lot of fun to play with in this game, Kitty! But mildly distressing to read:

I figured that I might just get away with killing Red. who at that time, seemed:

    [1] Like La Paloma

 Great! Someone else who figures I'm best killed off as soon as possible! Oh well, after this game future Mafia will hopefully realise that I'm much more useful to them when I'm alive  D'oh!

photo of cat with spots suggested by the devil (felt that SK wouldn't have done that)

Actually, I sent comments about costumes and avatars to most people, I think. I'd have done it regardless of what side I was on. It was just an aspect of this game that I found really appealing, and I wanted to encourage more competition for the Best Costume award. (I was robbed I tell you! Who was it that voted for Red Deaths' strange tentacled abstract thing? I'd have been in the lead then if you hadn't! Bah!)

You need to ask Mysteek. She supplied the clothes, I just wore them. (This is the very first time this has happened. Honest.)

    This one?

It was just a red mask I found on a google image search.

I think it's devilish horns, rather than tentacles...with LAZAR BAEMS shooting from it's EYES! ;)
