Cortex Command is a side-scrolling action game. Each player has an underground base with a brain suspended in some kind of test tube thing, the goal is to blast the enemy brain. To do this you have some funds, and different units to buy (and gold to mine to get more funds). You can play it alone or with up to three other players using keyboard and mouse and/or gamepads.
It's great fun, and crashing a big huge supply rocket into some helpless enemy always brings a smile to my face. It's not really finished, but it's definitely good enough to play. There also seems to be an active fanbase making all sorts of mods, haven't tried any of those so I can't say if they're worth trying.
There are some small animated screenshots on the main page, and some more scattered through their devlog.
Windows only.
Quite fun to muck around with but needs a lot more work with the AI system.
It was really good placing four soldies with handguns and shields at the bottom of my base and letting them blast anything that appeared, but this only lasted a few minutes as the corpses began to build up :S
Yeah, it's not completely done. I think the AI is okay, but it's definitely a lot more fun if you have a real person to play against. I really like the build up of corpses, and how you can just crush the legs of your guy if you land to hard and things like that. It's a neat little game.
