I occasionally engage in some sort of crafting, because it can be nice to make something yourself, and it can be fun. The other day I decided it would be fun to learn how to crochet and make something, so I found one of those knitting stores with heaps and heaps of yarn and got myself a hook and some yarn. It was surprisingly easy, and after understanding the basic mechanics of it all, I managed to make a little case for my Nintendo DS. Need to put buttons on it (you can probably make out the button holes in the second pic), but other than that it's finished, and I'm happy with the results, considering it's the first thing I've crocheted.
Now I have a problem though, I have a crochet hook, and some yarn, but mostly everything you can make by crochet looks pretty ugly, horrible or downright shocking, so I'm not sure what to do with my crochet hook.
Anyway, does anyone else here ever make Stuff?
Me, I do! I knit, mostly. I can crochet a bit, sew and... well, in general, I just like making things. I write about what I make and put photos of things on http://tangledcreations.blogspot.com, because I am a terrible showoff.
If you are stuck for crochet inspiration (and don't fancy knitting instead) there are a bajillion online patterns for things that are less dreadful, like http://www.crochetme.com . http://www.ravelry.com is great too, but it's not fully open yet and the beta-queue is huge.
Hi Colonic: In a game run by Carmine, with 9 people, how many killing groups would you expect there to be? Mono: 10I might give knitting a try, if nothing else it will at least give me a chance to use up some more of the yarn I have. And I think I'll get a large crochet hook and make something like this, I like the idea of turning throwaway plastic grocery bags into something more permanent.
