First, there came the Flood. Ol' Sly claimed it was foolishness to pitch camp so close to the riverbank, but none of the roustabouts fancied a long walk to fetch water, and weren't it the driest summer in twenny years anyway? So when the rains did come, was like God's own hammer hit us. River only carried away the one caravan, coupla prop boxes, nuthin' awful; but it turned the fairground to a thick muck that was hellish hard to walk 'cross.
An' it brought the Fever. That came next. River water weren't no good to drink after, I guess, or mebbe it was summat the skeeters brought with 'em. Most days half the company wuz laid up with the sweats, or the faints, or the shits. And the other half tryin' to run a show despite 'em. Some didn't make it. Bout half the rousties took off. No biggie, s'no trouble findin' new rousties.
'Cept there was, 'cos then there came the Famine. Time's'd been hard all round I guess, but what with the show sufferin' and the fairground a stinkin' swamp the city-folk just stopped comin'. Can't get men in to work when there's no pay to be had. Lotsa folk started talkin' about leavin'. Most of the girls took off, tried their luck as bar dancers or waitresses or worse. Can't blame 'em. Some of the Talent drifted off, folding their tents or wheelin' off their caravans in the night.
Reckon it was 'round then that people started talking about The Curse.
Superstitious folk, Carnies. All show-folk are, I reckon. An' maybe there was something to it, 'cos after the Famine came the Fire. Don't know how it started, maybe some fool roustie horsin' around, maybe someone from Management figgered he could collect on the Insurance.
Weren't many that survived the fire. Even less stayed with the fairground after. We all knew then, that The Curse - whatever it was - was on us and I guess most thought they'd try an' cheat it by fleeing. Only ones who stayed behind were them with nowhere else to go. The Freaks, the Geeks, the Lost. And one or two True Believers who felt they had a duty to keep the Carnival running, come Hell or High Water. Bless 'em.
And Something Else.
Something that came out by night to Feast.
Step up, Folks! It's the Show of a Lifetime!

It occurs to me that we may need to pause this game around Christmas and New Years - if anyone's planning on going away for a while let me know, hey? I'd rather not have to worry unnecessarily about replacing anyone after all.
Edit: Just a heads up: Many, many apologies for the length of night one. But for now - as far as I know it looks like only Myself, Spookybeth, and Carmine will have some Internet Access difficulties over the next fortnight. Yay!

Another grim night comes to an end. As the morning fog turns the Carnival grey and colorless, you all creep from your tents, caravans and cages to see which poor soul has been struck down by The Curse.
You soon notice that Dasquian is not among you.
However, his cage is drenched in blood and down by the river bank there now stands a small memorial stone reading simply:
JOJO THE DOG-FACED BOYAT REST
It seems Dasquian had been using his keen sense of smell to hunt down killers amongst the Carnies, but had passed on before revealing what he'd learned.
It is DAY ONE. Must be time to form a lynch mob.
1000 miles from the chimera I chase...OH NOES ![]()
A detective straight off!
This leaves me no choice but to Vote Hi Colonic.
Well, that's not a very nice xmas present :p
I am, as always, not much for random voting, but I imagine that won't stop others doing it.
Ack. That was pretty bad luck. I'm not going to random vote as it's Christmas and I have only a few minutes to spare. I can't be sure that I'll be able to post again before Thursday as I'm going to see the relatives.
Anyway, merry Christmas one and all.us
Season's greetings, all. I hope Santa was kind.
Looks like Dasquian was some sort of cop, which is a pain.
I don't expect that this game will pick up pace this week, but I'm away all next week with no net access at all. No random vote from me until I'm around more permanently.
Hi Colonic: In a game run by Carmine, with 9 people, how many killing groups would you expect there to be? Mono: 10well. not much to go on. What a surprise
so I am going to ignore punctuation and vote for spookybeth because her new piccie is a meanie.
Normal is an illusionSoooooo nobody saw anythings? ![]()
I guess the only one who would really have seen anything would have been Dasquian.
Except of course should we have any other investigative people.
And of course, noone is going to jump up and down now crying "Me, I know!" ![]()
And I have to join everyone else in saying that I'm not sure how much time I will have to post this week, as I'm down with a nasty cold, and probably away on the weekend.
Anyway, I'm here, and I noticed the game has begun, and I hope we can do well enough to manage without the cop...I really do.
sorry, vote spookybeth because her piccie is snarling and giving me the finger and she says butt.
Didn't see nothing. NO clues
Normal is an illusionLo!
Just making an appearance, I'm at the woodford folk festival right now, so don't expect to see much of me until the new year.
James, that avatar and signature are left over from the end of psychotherapy, and were fitting for how I felt about HC and Daegul at the time. I have not had internet access on Wayne's computer since then so have not been able to change the pic yet. The grumpybeth picture has nothing to do with you.
Vote James for voting for me for such a stupid reason.
Kiss me! - I have awesome powers!i'm here, internet playing silly buggers, heading to peats ridge festival tomorrow, back next year. More then.
*eyes everyone suspiciously*
Can't really ask for a sig and then not have one now, can i?Oooh getting a bit narky there, spooky....!
Hope you have a good time though...!
I'm not going to Woodford (sob). I'm stuck here... at home... well, technically at work more than 70% of the time between here and New Years... (another sob)
Sorry.. bit of a social post, this.
Um. Yeah. I'm suspicious of....*reviews current alive people*... *flips a few coins*... well no one just yet. ![]()
I'm here, but just checking in, really.
Dasquian's loss is bad news, for sure. Murder investigator looks pretty cut and dried as plain cop.
That aside, I'll drop a random vote on Carmine, please, Mr Mod. Vote Carmine
Hope everyone's Christmas was fine and dandy! Bo! Bo! bo! (Yeah, I may have had a cold).
Whew, hectic holidays.
Disappointing to lose Dasquian/cop night one. Not much from me as of yet, I'll be around sporadically until after new years.
Posted By: SpookybethThe grumpybeth picture has nothing to do with you.
Vote James for voting for me for such a stupid reason."
So voting for me previously because I have a day job wasn't stupid.
For god's sake take a chill pill. You know day one consists of stupid reasons for voting for people. I hope your knickers unknot at Woodford.
Normal is an illusionWell this seems quite bad, having people argue already!
So let's have a look at the game and guess the mechanics.
With 11 people, I would say 2 mafia and a SK, or perhaps two mafia groups of 2.
People who argue are good, as they make mistakes.
May you all have underwear disfunctions at New Years! ![]()
*goes away to celebrate the end of what turned out to be a good year after all*
I would say that both of those are possible, Haug, but I would say that there could be 3 mafia and an SK.
